How is matcha different from a natural source of caffeine?
Have you ever experienced a sudden boost followed by a crash after consuming caffeine? The catechins (antioxidant compounds) found in matcha, along with L-theanine, help to avoid this state. These substances slow down the release of caffeine into the bloodstream, providing sustained energy instead of a sudden caffeine rush. Matcha has a high antioxidant content. The ORAC value (oxygen radical absorbance capacity) of 1 gram of coffee is 27.8, while the ORAC value of 1 gram of matcha is 1573! Blackstrap molasses, obtained through the third boiling of sugarcane, is a natural carbohydrate with a higher absorption rate due to its sugar content (50% sucrose, 25% glucose, 25% fructose), yet it has a lower glycemic index compared to cane sugar. Blackstrap molasses is rich in minerals and trace elements, notably potassium and magnesium, and the sodium chloride present in it helps with the natural and synergistic replenishment of electrolytes lost through sweating.
